Coffee Diaries // Organic Peppermint Mocha

For 2014, I'm starting a new series called, "Coffee Diaries". I've got a big sweet tooth, and my coffee choices prove that to be true ten times over, so I wanted to come up with some tasty, organic coffee recipes to share with you! I'm new to this process, so if any of you baristas out there have any tips or suggestions, please send them my way.

Peppermint Mocha

You can find all of these ingredients at your local health food store.

1 oz. shot espresso (Fair Trade Coffee has a great espresso blend for a fantastic price)
1 cup almond milk
1/2 tbsp cacao (cocoa) powder
1/4 tsp of peppermint extract
1/2 tbsp organic cane sugar

Mix together the cocoa, peppermint extract, and sugar in a coffee mug. Next, add the shot of espresso (or double the strength dark roast coffee). Steam the milk, and pour it on top (if you don't have a milk steamer, heat it on the stove at 150 degrees, whipping it vigorously the last minute to create a foam. Be sure to not let the milk boil, which changes the taste of the milk).

Again, I'm a newbie when it comes to creating coffee drinks, so if you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments below!
