This year I've really wanted to branch out into the world of clean eating and living. I've always wanted to indulge in this type of lifestyle, but honestly, I didn't think it was very practical or doable for our lives. I've since been doing a lot of research. I'm learning that it really is possible to live a healthy, organic lifestyle on a budget. I'm looking forward to sharing what I've learned along the way, and I would love your thoughts, tips, and advice as well! For us, this isn't going to be an overnight process but something we plan to do one product at a time.
My first project is an organic sugar scrub. I was a little skeptical at first, but I've since used it twice, and I am in love. I keep telling Josh, "Feel how soft my arm is!" ha. He pretends to be interested. It's cute.
Make sure you're purchasing all organic ingredients. I purchased mine at a
local health food store, but you can probably find organic products of most of the ingredients at any major grocery store since they are
basics.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup coconut oil
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Optional - 1tsp essential oil
Begin by mixing the coconut oil and 1/2 cup of brown sugar in a blender.
Once there are no more chunks of coconut oil, with a wooden spoon, mix together the remaining ingredients.
For the essential oil, I chose a citrus oil. Other scents that I think may
have worked well are rose, lavender, cinnamon, and sandalwood.
Thanks for letting me share my first organic product experiment with you!
