Tile Photo Coasters DIY

Canon sponsor photo coaster transfer diy tutorial-5
Since buying our house, all I want to do is host our friends. At one point last month, we had five
people living in our home, and at least 20 people over once a week since we bought it. And because of this, I've found I need to invest in different home goods in large amounts. Who knew someone could find a use for this many towels, sheets, pillows, plates, coffee cups, and so much more. One thing on that list of must-haves is coasters. We have a lot of 100+ year old wood in our home that I'd prefer to keep nice and pretty. Plus, the right coaster can add to the decor in your home in a subtle, elegant way. For today's project, I'm teaming up with Canon USA and creating DIY photo coasters that are both easy and customizable to fit your home perfectly.

Supplies: PIXMA iP8720 printer, photo paper, scissors, mod podge, paint or foam brush, 4x4 ceramic tiles, acrylic coating spray.
Begin by printing 4x4 photos for your coasters. I created a collage before printing. One, to prevent wasting paper. Two, to see the color pallet and theme of the photos, making sure they had a similar aesthetic and complimented one another. The PIXMA iP8720 printer was especially great for the project since it can create large prints without losing the detail of the images.

Next, carefully cut out each photo.
Once cut, mod podge the images to the top of the tiles.
Lastly, apply coats of the acrylic coating spray. Let the spray dry completely. I repeated this step three times to prevent peeling and discoloration.
Easy as that! This also makes a great gift idea and could be themed by holiday, event, or season.

  7. This is lovely. I can't imagine needing coasters in my teeny apartment (or at least not more than one or two) but as you mentioned, this would be a great personalized gift. It seems like the tiles would also be a pretty mount for hanging the photos. Maybe use a little ledge shelf to display them when they aren't in use?
