Birch Wood Table DIY

I've been wanting to create this table for months, so I finally bit the bullet and went supply shopping. It only took one afternoon and is such a simple project to make. Here's how it's done:
Supplies: wooden boards, electric hand drill, 16 screws, wood stain, disposable paint brush to apply the stain, birch wood circle slabs (I purchased mine at Michaels Craft Store), heavy duty wood glue.

I started with two boards, 1x36x16 inches. At the hardware store, I had them cut each board into 16x16 inch and 16x20 inch boards. With the longer boards as the sides, I attached them in a rectangular form with four screws attaching each place the boards connected. Because there is no back connecting all  the boards, it's not the most secure structure, causing a slight sway when pushed side to side. But for me it's not an issue that I'm concerned with. If you wish to create a more structured piece, consider adding a back board or a middle shelf!

After you've made the table, stain it! I chose a lighter stain to show off the knots throughout the wood. Once it's dry, place the wooden circles all across the top of the table. You definitely want to lay out all of the pieces before applying the glue in case you need to rearrange them to fit better. Once you've arranged them how you'd like, glue them in place with a heavy duty wood glue.

Happy crafting!
