Fringe Skirt Makeover Tutorial

I purchased this skirt online with full intentions of giving it a makeover. This project is three simple steps and is extremely customizable, which I really like.

First, I dipped the end of the skirt in bleach. I wanted a splotchy look, so instead of dipping it evenly, I folded it into four before dipping it, resulting in an uneven dye. After rinsing and letting it air dry, I proceeded to dip it into a rose colored dye, about half as high as the bleach. Once the dye air dried I begin to fringe the bottom. I highly suggest trying it on when determining how high to make the fringe before you start cutting. Once fringed, wash it by hand and throw it in the dryer. Putting it in the dryer will make the fringe begin to curl which is what I wanted, but if you want the fringe to stay straight let it air dry.

I don't know about you, but I think summer sparks a sense of fashion projects within. I want to dye, cut, fringe, sew everythiiiiing. Do you have any summer fashion projects you've created recently? Leave a link!

  6. I've been experimenting with bleach a lot this summer too, but mostly with making patterns. I love how uncontrollable bleach is, everything ends up one-of-a-kind. :)

Fold it in half long ways and then fold it in half long ways again, creating four layers. :)
