Break Routine.

Since we've been traveling, a lot of my sweet readers have mentioned over and over how they wish they could take a trip like ours or how much they need a vacation. I'm not saying just to pack your bags and run out the door, but more, I want to encourage each of you to take a moment out of your busy lives and take time to explore the world around you. We aren't rich, we definitely don't have a ton of time on our hands, but we wanted to take a trip to explore the West, so, we did. Simple as that. We could have found a thousand excuses not to (have I mentioned we're moving in five days and haven't packed a single thing? Yikes!), but excuses only prevent someone from doing. Start with something small. Take a lunch break to explore your own city instead of sitting inside scrolling through Instragram. Take a day or weekend trip with friends and do some hiking, canoeing, or climbing. It's never convenient, but it's always worth it.  Break routine. Stretch your comfort zone. Explore your own backyard.

  9. agreed. routine is uninspiring. and i think the more you break from it, the easier it becomes. it's hard to take those first steps and get out of your comfort zone, but worth it to try. it's certainly better than sitting at a computer wishing you were doing something.

  25. COMPLETELY agree that adventures are never convenient---and recognizing that is sometimes the best jump start to make you take a leap and just do what you want sometimes, and putting your type-A tendencies on hold for your own sense of adventure.

  26. Love this post. I've been needing a vaction really bad but don't have the funds so I decided after seeing your pictures on IG that I MUST do something to get out and enjoy nature. I live in the beautiful high desert and the Joshua Tree Monument is not far from us. Even though we live here we are taking a much needed camping trip right around the corner from our house. I can't wait to be free, sleep in a tent, get my feet dirty and do some cooking over the flames outdoors. It will be amazing.
So glad you are sharing your trip with us all.
