Thankful.
Over the past week I've had three photo shoots with some really wonderful people. After driving home from last night's shoot, I became overwhelmed with thankfulness. Sometimes I really can't believe what I do for a living. To think that people send messages, email, call, asking me to take their photos, is so humbling. Knowing this makes me feel somewhat inadequate. Not in a negative, self-doubting way, but more so inspired because despite flaws and failures, clients still continue come. I don't use these words lightly, but I am truly honored by each inquiry and booking I receive, knowing that folks trust me with their most precious memories and to tell their story accordingly. I am so very humbled.
p.s. This lovely necklace is created by Noonday Collection, a company whose goal is to create a pathway out of poverty for families in Uganda, along with funding adoption and fighting against the abandonment of children. You can read more about this incredible company here.
I can imagine that often you must have to pinch yourself to check that everything is 'real' what an utterly fulfilling and creative job you have, like living a dream! I hope one day to do make a living with something that matters and that also makes other people happy :-)
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is wonderful - it reminds me of Russian folk prints!

The skirt is thrifted?! That's amazing. You have such a gift for all things visual :) I mean, who would have thought a striped sweater and a printed skirt would look so effortless together? It's great!
ReplyDeleteYour Photography really is beautiful. I was so excited that you had traveling dates and then quickly bummed that you would not be in California...lol... one day, one day.
ReplyDeleteI WANT THAT SKIRT.

Love the sweater, it's just so perfect! I can never find a perfect sweater, haha. I know that feeling - I'm not a professional photographer but being a hobbyist and still improving, I have people asking me to take photos of them which is overwhelming because they enjoy and believe your photos enough to ask you... especially for me since I'm still learning! Call it a blessing, I guess :)

we all have gifts to share despite how flawed we ourselves are.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this post, Kinsey, and it makes me smile, truly, with my whole heart, and then I think, this world is a wonderful, wonderful place with people like you in it!
ReplyDeleteRecognizing our flaws is what makes us strive for becoming better, but giving thanks for being able to accept them as we easily do with our qualities takes courage and integrity! :)
Wishing you a blessed weekend!

This shoot is great! Love the colours and the skirt! Reminds me of a skirt that my mother used to wear.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I just featured the same necklace on my blog today! It's definitely one of my favorites. I purchased mine from a organization/website called The Story Company, but it was $25, not $40... Either way, I'm so glad to see missions organizations selling items that are trendy and fashionable finally!
