Fabric Bound Notebook // DIY

If I don't have a notebook on me at all times, I start to feel a little crazy. My life is jammed packed, and I wouldn't choose any other lifestyle, but because my schedule is so full, I have to write EVERYTHING down. In AZ, I misplaced my notebook somewhere along the way, and so I starting writing down notes, to-do lists, and ideas on the back of dinner receipts. Classy, I know. To replace the one I lost, I bought this plain notebook and gave it a fresh, new look. I found this rug and thought it was a perfect fit. It looks like a complex project but is extremely easy. Here's how it's done:

Supplies: notebook, leather cord, fabric bound rug (I found mine at Walmart for $5.00 in the kitchen section)
Pantry Supplies: Fabric glue, needle and thread, scissors.

Begin by measuring the rug for the outside of the notebook. To make sure it covers the entire notebook, cut it one inch wider than the height. Cut the width extra long so that you can have a flap that extends over the front of the notebook. I added six inches to the width of mine. To keep the rug from unraveling, you'll want to sew the outline BEFORE you cut. Once you've stitched the outline of the notebook, cut out the outline. Next, with a heavy duty craft glue, attach the back of the rug to the front of the notebook, with the excess fabric all at one end. Let this dry overnight. Lastly, sew on a leather cord in the middle of the binding to create a tie for the notebook.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, friends.
